Old painting, need help.

Can anyone provide any info regarding this very old oil-on-canvas? I've attached front and back views. Thank you.

I don't recognize the painting itself, but it appears to be in the style of Dutch painters such as Jacob van Ruisdael. The thing is that it could have been painted then or at any time since.

I think it needs a close examination by an expert, and digging up a signature of some kind wouldn't hurt either. If you're sure it's old, maybe a thorough professional cleaning would bring out some kind of signature.
