I would be very grateful for help identifying the attached painting and artist. I cannot make out the name or find this person or painting online anywhere.
Thanks |

I believe it says S. Burnett". I have no record of such an artist. Here's a recent sale of a painting from Goodwill which appears to have the same signature:

Thanks for identifying the signature. Do you have any recommendations on how to identify the artist S. Burnett? I actually picked up this painting from a Goodwill too which is an interesting coincidence... perhaps there's a lot of art at Goodwill but I frequent there a lot and very rarely see authentic pieces.

There are reference works that you can find in larger libraries, but IMO your best bet for finding more information is to do some power searching in Google and maybe Bing. Using a variety of search term combinations and some persistence and imagination. Make sure you know how to use operators such as double quotes and the minus sign for eliminating irrelevent categories.
Also, by posting here maybe someone else will find this thread and add their own painting or some details about the artist. Under "Thread Tools" above, you can subscribe to this thread so that you'll be notified if anyone posts to it. |

I got this from Wikipedia, so presumably you already know this part:
"PāŗthaSāŗthi is another name for Lord Krishna. It means The Charioteer (or Guide) of Pāŗtha." |
