Hi. Well someone besides Joe has to post something here. I'm a struggling, underemployed and overeducated jazz musician and composer ( amatuer painter)... wondering what happened. There is so little work for real, creative, explorative jazz... and no real audience ( I don't consider the academic setting a real and germane audience or environment ) for contemporary classical music. Yet, I feel our planet is in pain, and we need art music. I have the feeling that mass media is partly to blame ( thought I haven't given enough thought to why.. i'm working on it ). I'm also not sure yet if the internet is a good or a bad thing. I'm trying. ( glenhalls.com,.. under construction ). My gut feeling is that the internet is and will be a very positive thing ( input appreciated )..... but it's hard.. we've got to make money somehow, and internet is still basically about things people can get for free. But that's changing a bit, slowly, with itunes,etc. anyway, I'd like to invite dialog and opinions on these subjects. Please don't be to hard on me for not thinking things through yet.

Hi Geln, I'm over educated, a songwriter and fairly successful painter. We could have some things in common?. I have been a teacher damn it--to be poor is better. I could send you a manuscript of original semi pop. music that could be turned into jazz--maybe?Let's know if you could be interested. I'm not proud of it, but it shows I'm into writing. I've done some quality stuff. I went to the National Art School.
