Question "Peter"

I also have an oil painting of Peter it has a lot of texture to it, the P is o.k; the both E looks like a Z with a line crossing them;the T is in lowercase letter and the; R is capitalizes but then a the end of writing it still goes on with a line going up. Is a very hard painting to look for..So if you have info.. of this painting let me know please..

There are a several people walking towards the viewer and there are large buildings on either side of the street and trees bordering the left. I can't find any information on it. I have a paintig that I got from my great Grandmother, It looks just as you discribed above. The painter signed it -VER MEN~. I did a little bit of research on it and I found out that the tall building in the back ground with the arch in it, was the spot were the Germans invaded and occupied France in WW2. I also found out that "Ver Men" made diffrent styles of paintings, In my painting I have a two large trees blocking half of the arch.
I will try to post a pic or if you would like to see it. I hope this information is useful.

I have a Venice Canal painting by Peter as well and it has exactly the same signature you describe. Just reading all the comments on this issue makes me very intrigued on who this painter may be. I have been looking at paintings by all the Peters I could find but I have not found any similar to mine. You are very eloquent on your description of your painting and it sounds just like mine. Anyone has any ideas on the identity of this painter?

I also have the same painting in Australia, does anyone have any idea about how much it is worth?

Default Oil by Peter

I too have an oil painting signed Peter. I bought it at a garage sale 30 years ago. It's of a man standing inside what may be an abbey. There is a tall stone wall with a wrought iron gate entrance. A cross on the the top of the wall. Inside the iron gate is a man standing in a courtyard and also a tree with burnt orange colored flowers.

Cool Me too.

I have a lovely painting by "Peter".
Looks like a street scene, an open square in Marseille or other place in in France. -A couple of people walking away towards stores in the background-it's great. there's a proximal building with a store at the first floor There's a nice tree adjacent to a distal building.
I know nothing about "Peter" but I like the painting. I bought it at a yard sale 20 years ago.

I too have a oil painting signed by Peter that i bought at an estate sale 15+ years ago of what i thought was a California mission. This evening at a restaurant in North Hollywood California I found two oil paintings (in the ladies room!) with the same exact signature (R on peter capitalized with a curve up on the ending) and took a picture of the signature and it matched exactly with the signature on my painting. The two paintings in the restaurant were both of Venice. I asked the owner of the restaurant if he knew anything about the artist and he said he inheritated the paintings 30 years ago when he bought the restaurant. Please note that the picture of the signature on one of the posts on this site is not the same Peter signature as ours with the "R" capitalized and the up tick at the end. I am still searching for the artists last name. I did see that a mission oil picture signed by a Peter was sold on ebay, but do not know for how much.

I have a very similar pic to yours - painted from the other side of the street it is The Sacre Coeur in Paris. I love my Painting, but can find no information on the Artist.
