I am attempting to identify the artist who painted a pair of oils I recently aquired. Both are of soldiers on horseback, one group in red tunics, the other in blue. The paintings are both signed "LS", interlocking letters, each atop a stone painted in the lower right foreground. I love these paintings. I am convinced the artist is notable, but can find no information elsewhere. The paintings were sold at auction, with no provenance, as "British, 20th Century."

I do know that the canvas on one has the marking of a London artist supplier.
