Exclamation Question about an old drawing

I bought a really (what I think is a beautiful picture that was drawn) at a thrift store. I have no idea who the man is in the picture, it is signed in pencil in the back. It is very old looking manuscript. The paper that it is on is disintergrating, as in falling apart. I can post a picture, but can anyone, or would anyone help me in identifying this man, or the artist? Also, because it is so old and falling aprt, how do I continue to keep it from disintergrating?
Thanks,
Teresa

If you take a picture we can look at it and maybe provide some suggestions.

In the meantime, keep it away from light and heat and air. Store it flat in an archival quality (acid free) folder or envelope. If you want to display it, use archival framing materials and UV-protective glass and display it in a low-light area. Don't try to mend it; the main thing is to prevent it from deteriorating any more.
