I have a 24x36 painting by Kingman of a waterfall flowing into a river and surrounded by pine trees. I would like to find out who the artist is and is the painting worth anything. It is a beautiful scene and I don"t want to sell it but would like to know if I should insure it.

Well guys, I also have an oil painting by KINGMAN. One thread runiing through these paintings are hunting dogs. My painting, depicts an English pointer flushing (a no no) pair of bobwhite quail in a wooded scene. The signature is printed with an exagerated or flamboyant K ,a capitlised or oversized G space and small printed capital letters. I have always thought the scenery was fall (hunting season) in the South East-Central United States because Bobwhite Quail are native to this part of the United States. However, to put a fly in the ointment, I did buy the oil on Ebay, from a seller in in England. It's a puzzel! Good luck, Herb

Hi just seen this forum. Very interesting reading. I also have two oil paintings by Kingman (both are scenes of pointers flushing out game birds from woodland scene). Large pictures 36 x 24 plus frame. Would love to find out more about them. Have tried to investigate the artist, but not managed to find out much! The signature is in the bottom right hand corner. Hi there, I also have two oil paintings by Kingman (pointers flushing out birds in woodland scene). The paintings are large 36 x 24 inches plus frame. They are signed Kingman in lower right corner. Bought from gallery in Caterham, Surrey about 8 years ago. They were sold by the gallery on behalf of a private individual who was emigrating. Have tried (unsuccessfully) to find out more about them. Welcome to the Kingman search, Unfortunately at this stage no one seems to have any idea who this artist is or was.
What is interesting reading throughout the posts there are several paintings, which have the pionter flushing out partridge or Qauil as one of our american friends describes as.

i have an oil painting with kingman in the bottom right hand corner, this is in a wood with the mist coming down. two pointers looking at a pheasant flying out of the wood. It is an autumn scene with lots of orange leaves on the groung. the measurements are approx. 36ins x 24ins. I am interested in what it might be worth and to find out more about the painter.

i have a kingman painting of a spaniel and a duck with a countryside background,the artist has signed the oil painting in white.i bought it at a car boot sale for £15 pounds the couple i bought it off said that they bought the painting at a country side,game fair hope this helps.it caught my eye because it is such a lovely painting its about 50cmx70cm

Welcome to the art conversation board, and the search for information relating to the mystery artist KINGMAN. If you have read all the posts on this board you will find a common sense of similarity. Unfortunately no one seems to have the answer of the origin of the artist, which seems to be a mystery.
Keep in touch, if you manage to generate any information.
I am searching around many various galleries, and internet connections, but with no avail. I feel sure that the answer is there, and some thing simple like this board will come up with a connection.

How exciting.. I was just trying to research an oil painting that I have of a black & white springer spaniel with a woodcock in it's mouth at the forefront of a autumnal wooded scene when I came across this conversation on the artist Kingman. I cannot be absolutely sure about the signature (bottom right of painting) but it is King.....something. The last part of the name isn't clear at all but there are no 'tall' or 'tail' letters so it could be Kingman and the style and theme of the painting seems similar to those described here. I will watch with interest to see if anyone can find out any more info on this artist.

I noticed that a few of the responders appear to be in the U.S. Is there any possibility that the mysterious Kingman could be an American?

I'm not sure if this will help you lot, but there's a gallery in NYC devoted almost exclusively to sporting dogs - The William Secord Gallery. They'd probably hate it if everyone contacted them, but perhaps member Afloy could have a go at it.
