That is a nice looking painting. Not sure if this is the same artist (signature does not match some other "Kingman" paintings I have seen online), but I like it. Sort of reminds me of Andrew Wyeth or Rien Poortvliet -- it's more golden-hued and nostalgic than their works are, but the romantic element is nicely understated.

Hi John... Thank you for your help. Yes I agree it is a very nice painting, each blade of grass is individually applied one over the other giving a 3-D effect. A lot of work, must have taken some time to do the painting. I think it could be around 50-60 years old which is reflected by the burney board it is painted on. The frame is older, I would say at least 1920's or 30's. Thanks again John D...

I beg to differ on your opinion, in that the signature does not match other KINGMAN paintings. I now have several signatures from other readers and they are definately the same. The only one that was different was a painting signed in lower case. The confusing point there was the painting of pointers chasing out partridge/Quail was extremely similar. The interesting thing with Johns painting, and to which he describes is the grasses, which are an eye catching part of most of the paintings I have seen. Love to forward my painting along with signature, but will not allow, due to to much memory required. Regards Alan Floy |

It should be an easy matter to resize it to a manageable size and save the file as a .jpg. Of you can mail it to me and I'll post it. My email address is at the bottom of this page:

Hi Alan
John D... here, thought I would post some more pics up for your consideration and possible verification with your signatures. Would like to see some pics of the signatures you are talking about. Thanks John Quote:

Hi Alan
This is what we did to reduce pics for posting. Right click on picture, go to open with, choose Microsoft Office Picture Manager, click on edit pictures on the navigation bar, on the right hand side a panel will display, go to resize, click on predefined width & Height, this will show document large, then click on the down arrow on the right side of box and choose large web print. click OK & Save. Hope it works for you Cheers John D... (and wife) Quote:

Hi John
Thanks for your feedback. Wanted to let you know that I checked out the painters you referred to. I agree that my Kingman certainly does resemble the style of these painters particularly Andrew Wyeth. Thanks again John D... Quote:

The next few posts are the pictures that Alan sent me, reduced for space and also so that they don't require too much scrolling...

These two are apparently from the same painting, although I can't see where the signature is on the full image...

Hi There
Are you able to post up your picture? It sounds like it may be a bit similar to mine and would like to compare the styles. I feel mine may be from Canada somewhere and also wonder if this is where you are from. I spoke to a lady who was also from Canada who had a Kingman painting from there. (Also France & Barcelona). I am in Australia and the painting was aquired from a couple who had purchased a Banana Plantation, they were from Italy or Spain. Thanks John D ... PS: There are postings on how to put the picture up on the forum if you are unsure how to do this. Quote:
