Hello,
I am helping a friend to gain some historical information on a painting that has been passed down from their grandfather. Here is what is known: Painting is an oil painting [tableau], painting was acquired in the last 1800's, in Egypt when Britain occupied the country. It was traded by someone who was European. Upon inspection of the painting, the signature reveals " M o Basaldella" and what appears to be the number 23 beneath that. Some investigation revealed the Basaldella family who are in fact artists, but all were born in the early 1900's. Further, inspection of works from this family don't show a similar signature from any of them. The one potential, Mirko Basaldella, merely signs his name as "Mirko" and the genre of his artwork is more abstract. This painting bares a faint resemblance to the humanistic/renaissance era. If you have any suggestions or can point me in the right direction, I will be eternally grateful! Link to painting below: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y33...basaldella.jpg Thanks again!! |

Hi, i'm writing from italy. First, sorry for my bad english.
I have a similar oil painting signed by "M O Basaldella". It reppresent a woman with a guitar mandolin. At the bottom the writing "M O Basaldella 73". The painting is owned by my family since 1980. We don't know who is it this painter and whe don't know exactly the origin of the painting. I've also look at the Friulan Basaldella family (Afro, Mirko, Dino) but it seems not to be the case. Next, i will post a link whit the picture. |

The above is just an affiliate link to http://findartinfo.com/. They do have a lot of artists listed in general, but under the Basaldella name only list Mirko and Afro , so there's no extra help there.

Today i found an interesting painting at my grand mothers wall. The painting is signed Mo Basaldella, and its woman standing and looking out from her balcony. She is showing a big part of her breasts, and she is wearing a red/pink dress with a green scarf around her shoulders.
The painting (also an oil painting) was bought maybe 30 years ago in Sweden. My grand father drove taxi at that time and one of his costumers couldnt pay for the ride so he offered my grand father this painting instead of paying. My grand father looked at it and thought the beautiful woman looked similar to one of his doughters so he took it. The painting is mysterious and beautiful. Its so many expressions, and it seems like she is dreaming of another life or that she is miserable in some way. Someone who knows anything about M.O Basaldella? |

I have a painting just like Rasha's. It was gave to me by a freind in a few weeks ago. It is also signed by M.o Basaldella '73.
Not 23 as Rasha states Mine is deffinately a '73 European style 7. Mine is in an old wood frame with something like Plaster of paris design work. I have no idea where it came from or who the painter is / was. |
