I purchased this painting, along with others, at an auction several years ago. It was poorly displayed in a store bought frame, and I put it away planning on having it re-done properly. I forgot I even had it, until I uncovered it again while packing some things away.
It is a watercolor on paper, approx 8x10. It is signed by the artist in pencil on the bottom left. I can not make out the name, it seems to be a three part name and if I had to guess the last name is Myers. After extricating it from the horrible frame and mounting, I noticed that in pencil on the backing of the mount, it said Old Ruin Capistrano and what I am assuming was Mission, but I can't tell for sure. On the opposite corner was more wording in pencil that was illegible. It really is a lovely little painting and I would love to know the artist. SO if anyone recognizes this style, please let me know. Any information would be helpful. Thank You! ETA: I have added the scan cropped to see the signature. As it is pencil, it is extremely hard to read, especially in a scan. Last edited by MsCsArtQuest : August 19th, 2010 at 09:46 AM. Reason: Adding Signature of Artist |

Yes, that really has a great classic look to it. If you can get a close-up of the signature, there are a few people here who can do wonders deciphering signatures.

I'll try to take a picture of the signature, but it is very hard to see. I forgot to add that I think this dates back to at least the 1950s, it may be earlier than that, but it was definitely put into the frame I removed it from between in the 40s or 50s.
