I am searching for a painting for a friend. I'm romantic like that.

I have very little information to go on. All I know is that she saw the painting in a Birmingham art gallery some years ago. She describes it as very dark, the subject being a maid or friend tending to the bleeding foot of another lady, who was sitting or lying down. I've Googled as many keywords as I can think of but have found nothing.

I know it's a huge longshot, especially as I haven't even found anything close on the internet so maybe she is remembering it wrongly.

If anyone has any ideas please let me know.
