Default Peter Tensley Oil Painting

I purchased an oil painting (2'x4) by Peter Tensley at an estate sale. The painting is a woods scene at dusk. Can anyone tell me about this artist and if the painting is worth anything? I love the painting regardless of the value, but was just curious.

Default Peter Tinsley Oil Painting

Dear Bluemoon, I have a painting by the same artist which I bought more than 25 years ago. The Tinsley paintings were selling for quite a bit more at a huge art sale with the dealer explainig that Tinsley was actually an old Chinese painter Tin Sing, or something like that. The dealer said he was old and would soon die causing his work to increase in value. Like you, I loved the style and how lighting changed the mood of the painting. I borrowed money from my mother, bought a medium sized painting and kept it all these years. I still do not know if it is worth more than what I paid for it back then ($200 or $500), but I still love it.

I have a beautiful picture as well on Peter Tensley, a watercolor scenery.
I can't seem to upload it?

Default Painting

I have a painting very very close to the look of yours in the same frame. I am wondering if you found anything else on this artist? Can I ask what you paid?
I am researching so that I can sell mine. I was told that it once hung in the old Hotel Utah.

Smile Peter Tensley painting

I too have a Peter Tensley Painting, rustic and mountains and have a certificate with it. I too like the way lighting hits it. I paid $900.00 and it is a huge painting.

Default Peter Tensley

I also own a Peter Tensley painting purchased in Buffalo, NY in the early 1980's at an art sale. I own it to this day and have only seen one other Tensely which was on eBay a couple years ago. I love my painting which is in a vertical format of a mountain. It is quite large and has a wonderful frame. It is the favorite piece in my collection. Don't know anything about the artist but would enjoy learning more about him!
