Guard mending sock
Many years ago I inherited a wonderful hand painted copy of this interesting piece of art. I was told at that time that it probably was a poke at the aristocrats of the day who were trying to hold up the appearance of power. They still had their mansion, but now the grounds are full of weeds, the guard has aged and is seen mending his sock. In the distance you can see the smoke rising from the new industrial revolution.
Does anyone know who the artst may be, I would love to know.
