Default Jarvis - Oil on Canvas Assistance

I'm trying to find out about a painting left to me by my grandfather. It is a oil on canvas, abstract painting. The signature is Jarvis (I believe although others have suggested a Jaruis as well), but I'm having a difficult time finding anything about this particular artist. If anyone out there can help I would greatly appreciate it!

The painting is in excellent condition and it's a beautiful piece of abstract work and measures about 4x3 feet.

Iíve attached an overall picture, close up of signature, a special notation on the back, some close-ups to show texture and stroke and the back.
If there is anyone out there who can help me, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks!

Default I have a Jarvis painting as well, would like to know more.

Hello, I just purchase a Jarvis oil painting at auction. On the back there is a note that this painting was made for Du Dyn Interiors. There is also a note about the artist, he was born in Antwerp, Belguim. Other than that, I too am looking for additional information. The signatures match on both of our paintings.

Default Jarvis Oil Painting

I just purchased a Jarvis Oil on wood - 40"x40" ... signature is pretty similar --I'm also trying to find out more info about the artist -- it has an original price tag - Hillson Interiors, Brookline, Ma -- looks to from the 50's - store no longer in business...

Default jarvis oil paintig

Have one also , bought in 1968 , his name is Jarvis , came from antwerp to the states early 60s , have seen several others over the years in the back ground of movies , tv and commercials, when i bought this one there were 3
others there as well , leads me to think there could be a few out there.
Some research took me to a Don Jarvis in Vancouver , his work is similar but
not positive, would like to know more myself, keep hunting

Hello, I too have an original Jarvis painting, bought at an old second hand store about 6 years ago. Mine looks very much like the one seando100 has shown us here, except the colors in mine are in the green family. The back of the painting has a few things, a metal plate that says Superior Continental Corporation - for which I can't find any info, also has glued on paper that says style #416, something about the framers but its torn and not legible, also Miller's Office Equip and then Subject: original oil, Artist: Jarvis. The signature also matches. Unfortunately I am in the same boat as all of you, having difficulty finding additional information. Am happy to know, that I am not alone in appreciating his/her artwork. Should I discover anything, will share, and please do the same. Thanks.

One more thing, not sure what the other paintings look like, however, everytime I look at mine I see different images, mostly females - outlines and maybe one dog- not completely sold on that yet. Has anyone else noticed this in the painting you have?

I have a Jarvis oil. I bought it in Fan Francisco in 1972. I can't find anything on this artist. It is diffidently the same person. It's 4'x 5' in sixe. Very contemporary and stunning.

Thumbs up Jarvis Painting

I found a Beautiful original Jarvis Painting today at Salvation Army.
paid $80 for it. It's very similar to the pic from the person who started this thread. Can't find any info online...like the rest of you, except this thread.
I would love to collect pics of the other paintings and am happy to share mine with all of you.

Typed original yellowed note on the back says this:

Jarvis
"Jarvis began his art training as a child and later attended the Institute Of Fine Arts, Antwerp, Belgium, where he was born.

Now living in the United States, and influencing the American painters of his generation.

This young contemporary artist holds control of the subject,
has interest without confusion, attracting and keeping the eye.

Critics consider him a brilliant interpreter of our contemporary scene.
His works valued to be a unique addition to any art collection."

Let me know if you would like to share pics of our wonderful discovery!!
Kind Regards,
Sarah
