I'm trying to find out about a painting left to me by my grandfather. It is a oil on canvas, abstract painting. The signature is Jarvis (I believe although others have suggested a Jaruis as well), but I'm having a difficult time finding anything about this particular artist. If anyone out there can help I would greatly appreciate it!
The painting is in excellent condition and it's a beautiful piece of abstract work and measures about 4x3 feet. I’ve attached an overall picture, close up of signature, a special notation on the back, some close-ups to show texture and stroke and the back. If there is anyone out there who can help me, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks! |

Hello, I just purchase a Jarvis oil painting at auction. On the back there is a note that this painting was made for Du Dyn Interiors. There is also a note about the artist, he was born in Antwerp, Belguim. Other than that, I too am looking for additional information. The signatures match on both of our paintings.

I just purchased a Jarvis Oil on wood - 40"x40" ... signature is pretty similar --I'm also trying to find out more info about the artist -- it has an original price tag - Hillson Interiors, Brookline, Ma -- looks to from the 50's - store no longer in business...

Have one also , bought in 1968 , his name is Jarvis , came from antwerp to the states early 60s , have seen several others over the years in the back ground of movies , tv and commercials, when i bought this one there were 3
others there as well , leads me to think there could be a few out there. Some research took me to a Don Jarvis in Vancouver , his work is similar but not positive, would like to know more myself, keep hunting |

Hello, I too have an original Jarvis painting, bought at an old second hand store about 6 years ago. Mine looks very much like the one seando100 has shown us here, except the colors in mine are in the green family. The back of the painting has a few things, a metal plate that says Superior Continental Corporation - for which I can't find any info, also has glued on paper that says style #416, something about the framers but its torn and not legible, also Miller's Office Equip and then Subject: original oil, Artist: Jarvis. The signature also matches. Unfortunately I am in the same boat as all of you, having difficulty finding additional information. Am happy to know, that I am not alone in appreciating his/her artwork. Should I discover anything, will share, and please do the same. Thanks.

One more thing, not sure what the other paintings look like, however, everytime I look at mine I see different images, mostly females - outlines and maybe one dog- not completely sold on that yet. Has anyone else noticed this in the painting you have?

I have a Jarvis oil. I bought it in Fan Francisco in 1972. I can't find anything on this artist. It is diffidently the same person. It's 4'x 5' in sixe. Very contemporary and stunning.
