Default Help me to identify painting of lady in front of a fireplace

I am attempting to identify a painting that my grandmother has. It is a picture of a lady wearing a long black dress and apron and a white cap. I would estimate the time period of the dress to be late 1700's or early 1800's. She is sitting in a chair reading a book in front of a fireplace. There is a cat curled up and sleeping next to her. It has been handed down through multiple generations of my family but we do not know where it originated. It has remained in the same frame for as long as we know so I did not want to risk the integrity of the picture by removing it from it's frame to attempt to get additional information. I believe it is a print or a watercolor but I am not knowledgeable in this area so I am not certain.
