It's by Herbert H Jones oil on board signed and dated 1897 on the beck subscribe the last kiss also signed and dated it's 12 by 8 thanks I appreciate any help.

Findartinfo.com has a couple of auction results for Herbert H. Jones. I noticed that you posted about the painting in their forums as well, so you probably already know this. Also Artinfo.com has a lot more.

Hi john I appreciate your help it's just this painting is look much deferent and it's earlier and has more character to it can you guess the value just your opinion. Thanks

It's a little different from his usual subjects, which are straight portraits of horses and other animals (that's why, IMO, the horse is the best thing in this picture). That makes it hard to value. Usually an artist's most typical works, the ones he or she is best-known for, are the most desirable, but sometimes if you have a more interesting/popular subject matter then someone will bid higher.
I've seen black-and-white paintings before, but they're unusual. If it really is a painting then I also can't guess how that would affect its value. |
