Default Another Conservative Praises DADA and in the Weekly Standard

A few weeks ago Jed Perl one of the most conservative of art critics currenty reviewing praised the Dada show at the National Gallery. Now today I see that the cover article for the Weekly Standard is a rave review of the DADA show by Martha Bayless

Although Bayles is not an art crtic, she is something of a conservative cultural commentator. And the Weekly Standard is the leading conservative journal of opinion in America. So I wonder what is going on here. Aren't conservatives supposed to be against Dada?

Looks to me like a conservative who is praising (faintly) the original DADA -- but byway of slamming their redundant, established, ubiquitous, academic, contemporary progeny --- and she might have pointed out which ones (like Otto Dix) actually had a traditional art education.
