I recently came across a print by W. Dendy Sadler that my father had also. Did you have any luck finding any information? My print is framed rather nicely. It is a print of group of men sitting around a small table drinking wine and smoking pipes. (They appear to be having a meeting, or something.) I too found a bunch of other prints but, haven't come across one like this. Any info you have would be greatly appreciated. Maybe we can work together to find info.

I too have discovered an etching signed in pencil by Dendy Sadler named 'The wine committee' which shows five men sitting at a table tasting wine and taking notes whilst the waiter watches on. Anyone any idea of value? brianutd@orange.net

To SHWIKR
Your picture is probably called "Chorus". If it is it should say at lower right margin "Copyright 1894 Photographische Gesellschaft" and signed "W Dendy Sadler" lower left. You can find a copy of this picture at http://www.traditionalart.com/lk2395.html but the colours are wrong - the coats shoudn't be red. There was a lot of problems over the copyright too, details of which are easy to find Peter |

I have Sadler's print called the "Chorus". It was part of a collection of his prints that were displayed at Keeler's restaraunt in Albany New York. When the establishment was closed in the late 60's the prints moved to the Fort Orange Club in Albany, however, they were apparently donated to the Albany Institute of History and Art under the condition they be allowed to remain at the Fort Orange Club until they didn't want them anymore. The print I have is from Photographische Gesellschaft and can be found in their old catalog. I'm not sure what artists proofs Japan 50 and India 250 mean. Also I believe the print I have has first class hand coloring. Would like to discuss further with knowledgeable individual. Thank You Neil Hayes my email is cchayesjr@aol.com

I have a print of W. Dendy Sadler - 8 men at a dinner table with one standing, leaning over as if to prove a point. One man is leaning behind the standing man's back and appears to be saying something to another while one across the table has his head in hand, another trying to eat his soup. I'm trying to find out if it has a title, as well as another print that is now in my Aunt's posession - a woman serving a turkey to men at a table while they seem to be showering her with praise. Does anyone know the titles to these works?

I have an etching by W Denby Sadler. It is signed in bottom margin by him and Dooby? The picture is of a man and woman sitting near a fire. He is holding one sheet of a letter...the other is on the floor. The woman is looking at the fire and is not happy. The man seems to be saying with his eyes...did you do this?
Any help on the name of this one or whether it is of interest would be of great help as I can't find it anywhere! |

I have an etching of a woman by a fireplace by W.Dendy Sadler. It's dated 1850 and is signed in ink on the etching itself and also signed in pencil by the author and on the opposite side is another signature in pencil - a Charles C. something - looks like it starts with a U and ends with a Y. It also says LeFevre and Sons (the original) from King Street in London. It was in perfect shape when I received it about 50 yrs ago, but has been torn. Is it still worth anything (other than being a lovely image)?

I have a print or painting of " First of September " approx size 15" x 20"signed on the bottom left hand side by W Dendy Sadler which from the label on the back was sold or framed by Goodban & Manley, Preascod St, Windsor, Berkshire in the latter part of the 1800's or early part of the 1900's.
My question is, can anyone tell me if a print (which is more than likely), which printing would it be and by who ?, or what to look for to determine the answer to my question. Many thanks |
