Dear Art Conversation Visitors,
Here are two different exhibits from two museums that were featured in New York Times. I was not that familiar with Lucien Freud (British realist - figurative painter). I think students may be inspired by his etchings (portraits) See slide show: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/14/ar...tml?ref=design "Lucian Freud: The Painter's Etchings" continues through March 10 at the Museum of Modern Art; moma.org. http://www.moma.org/exhibitions/exhi...2&ref=calendar Check back to see if they put more online.... More on Lucien Freud: http://www.artcyclopedia.com/artists/freud_lucian.html The other exhibit of interest is at the Jewish Museum. "From The New Yorker to Shrek: The Art of William Steig" is on view through March 16 at the Jewish Museum, 1109 Fifth Avenue, at 92nd Street. It travels to the Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco (June 8 through Sept. 7). "Children may know William Steig as the creator of Shrek, but their grandparents can trace the ornery green ogre's roots through a body of children's books, New Yorker cartoons and drawings dating back to the Depression." Enjoy the slide show http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/14/ar...tml?ref=design More from New York Times http://www.nytimes.com/pages/arts/design/index.html More on William Steig: http://www.williamsteig.com/ Regards, Judy Decker |
