Help identify this artist of this painting

Just bought this painting. I love it, but I can't figure out who painted it. There is a signature and date. It seems to be A P KET or A P KOT and the day should be 1971. Any suggestions?

You could try taking it out of its frame, carefully, to see the complete signature.

Unfortunatey it's stuck in there pretty good, so it's not an option unless done professionally.
