Richard Dorment who writes a weekly column for the Telegraph in the UK is another art critic who deserves your attention even if the shows he reviews are ones which you are unlikely to see.
His review of a new show in Birmingham called "Moonrise Over Europe" covers a transitional moment in Romanatic painting when " the mighty political and religious themes treated earlier in the century by Friedrich, Delacroix, Gericault and Goya were abandoned in favour of paintings inspired by intimate emotional responses to nature"
