Default New PBS Series on "How Art Made the World"

Hello

There good news for those of us who like to watch programs about the history of art on public television. Over the next five weeks PBS stations are going to be airing a five part series made by the BBC and hosted by Nigel Spivey called " How Art Makes the World" which investigates everything from cave paintings to ceramics, pyramids to palaces and icons to artefacts across five continents and 100,000 years of history.

I haven't seen any of the shows but I've skimmed the book which accompanies the series and found it very interesting, even challenging. I teach a course in the philosophy of art and beauty and plan to tape these episodes and use them in my class this fall.
