Default Art politics when it comes to authentication of some works

I sometimes sell parts of my collections through auction houses and I'm finding so many artists have committees that the auction houses have to go through to get them authenticated before they will consider selling. I'm wondering how you find out which artists are like this. It seems like a lot of the french artwork works this way. I know that Joan Miro is. Is there some magical list of authenticators so that I know not to go near their work?

I really really believe there is some politics going on here too. I think these comittees find it in their best interest to deny a work, because the less of that artists works there are, the more value their collections are worth. I believe that is what happened with the famous Pollock that, the older lady found at a second hand store.

I'd like opinions on this from other collectors. Feel free to contact me directly if your a collector that would like to talk about artwork and share experiences. My email is tyblossom@aol.com. Thanks,

Stephanie
