I am trying to find the artist of a print. It is of a lady with two sleeping children. The lady is behind a chair and she is wearing a green dress. The lady's eyes follow you wherever you are standing.
I am thinking the print is from around the 1920's since my grandparents received it as a wedding gift. I have included a photo. Thanks! |

Very interesting. It was made using the image of a famous sculpture by Aristide Onésime Croisy 1840-1899, Le nid (the nest) Now in the Musée d'Orsay. This sculpture often appears in auction with various stuff as marble, ceramic, bronze, and various sizes. It seems that the experts do not know the original painting of this print nor the print itself. It was allways said that the posers were the children of Croisy, so I don't see here a painting that the sculptor copy after. There are some changes in details like the nude original children dressed in the print. It is in the taste of a painter like Léon Perrault but I can't find the real author.
