Breakfast Before The Hunt

Hi,

This is a painting by an M.A. Pinkof from 1936. My mother-in-law received it as a gift many years ago. Has anyone ever seen it or heard of the artist before?

Are you sure of the name? Google appears to show an old eBay listing for an "Antique Rustic Still Life Oil Painting" by MA Pintot. Unfortunately the listing is so old that it can no longer be displayed on eBay and there's no Google cache available. That's all I can find using any likely variation on the signature.

Thanks for your reply John,

I am only going by the face plate on the painting. It does appear to depict a breakfast before the hunt. As far as the artist's name being Pintot, I guess that's a possibility too.

My mother in law says she has seen this art in two other places in the last 40 years, so reproductions were made.

Artie, I also have been looking for information on this artist as I acquired a painting of his (hers?) recently from an antiques store. The signature on my painting is identical to that on "Breakfast before the Hunt". I also agree that it appears to be "M.A. Pintot".

My painting is an untitled landscape dated 1908.

Good luck with your search. I have not found anything regarding this artist online.

Apparently so. He did several similar paintings, but here is an example of a reproduction of the same painting showing up at a shop in Oregon.

The artist name is Frank Moss Bennett: The Hunt Breakfast aka “Let’s Hunt Chickens.”

ok...so im looking up this painting because it hangs in my friends kitchen and im into art. but one thing kind to came to my attention...its weird, but in the painting at my friends house has a hook in the ceiling....i found another one on here with a hook and one without.... i was jus curious. i know there are reproductions. but still. its kind of funny.
