An imaging company amusingly named HAL9000 has put a new super-duper-high-resolution scan of Leonardo's The Last Supper online.
I've been disappointed in the past when I've tried to find good reproductions of this 29-foot-long fresco, but this one is superb. In fact, it goes beyond all rational expectations, allowing you to zoom in all the way down to individual paint flecks if you so choose. In addition to being somewhat overengineered, I can see two other minor problems: - the window size is (as often happens) too small, only about 375x700 pixels - the image perpetually looks like it's been sharpened just a little too much, as if they're trying to cram too much visual information into the frame Nonetheless it's well worth a visit. http://www.haltadefinizione.com/en/ |
