I'm working with an older artist who is wanting to sell his afterwork online. He would either like to sell copies of it to be reproduced on canvas and acrylic, or sell poster versions of his work. His artwork combines magical realism, spiritual Aztec and native american themes and legends. Most people find it beautiful and rich in meaning. He had about 50 pieces he would like to post online. His intention is that once a order is recieved online, we would mail them the painting or poster.
So here are the questions we have: 1. Can anyone recommend a good site to sell on? 2. Is there a way to post the images online, so that they can't be copied or saved by the casual observer. In other words, so they can't be right-clicked and then copied to their desktop. We've seen some sites in the past who prevent this somehow. How is this done? 3. Is there anyone who has a simmilar business. Any recommendations? Thank you and greatly appreciate any advice, Sven |

Hi,
I am a Chinese artist,I am doing the same thing as you described, that is to say, I am selling reproductions, originals and printings of my works. But to tell you frankly this is very difficult task. But I can tell you there are lots of sites where you can sell your paintings online for free such as : www.artistrising.com www.artbreak.com www.unitedcreators.com Wish you good luck. You can see my personal websites: www.yilianart.com www.zhenart.com |

For local sales, I've put art up on http://www.craigslist.org for Raleigh artist Sonia Kane ( www.soniakaneart.com ). It also helps to target the sales locally so shipping costs aren't as much of an issue.
