Hi,
My name is is John Eagle. I live and work full time here in south west Ireland. I was first brought here by mother in the early 60s, I came to live here in late '91, and start off learning to paint with oils under the direction of Maurice Henderson in Allihies. I also worked as a photographer to help pay the bills, and chose to make postcards of lighthouses. It took me ten and a half years to photograph every one of the 81 lighthouses on the Irish coastline and make a postcard of them. Strangely enough sales of my artwork paid for many of the postcard print runs. I feel it was a worthwhuile thing to do, even though it did not exactly bring in lots of money. If you would like to see my lighthouse photography then please go to this website: www.JohnEaglePhotography.com My first art sale was at the Beara Arts Festival in July 2000. For the next three years I balanced my photography and art, until 2004 when I spent more time painting. This year was fabulous weather wise, but I hardly used any of my cameras. I concentrated on developing my oil paintings. I had three major shows to get ready for. Beara Arts in July, where I sold 2 out of the three I exhibited, then my big show at The Old Market Arts Centre in Dungarvan which was launched by the famous Irish artist (known for his bog fires) my good friend Tim Goulding. Then after that in September I showed at the Miriam Bailey Gallery in Bandon. Also there were several side shows, like one in Kenmare, Killarney, the Lavit in Cork. So I have had a very busy year. If you would like to view what I do then please goto: www.JohnEagleArt.com with best wishes John Eagle |
