The Smithtown Township Arts Council is now accepting entries for A Pinch and a Dash, an exhibition celebrating Women’s History Month March 28- April 19, 2009 at the Mills Pond House Gallery. The exhibition seeks to examine the American woman’s changing role in the kitchen, from rural times when a woman’s biscuits defined her reputation, to twentieth century ready-made preparation. A Pinch and a Dash calls for works that exemplify women’s role in the kitchen or reveal how that role has changed to meet new challenges in American society, from providing sustenance for the family, to maintaining ethnic traditions, to natural and organic awareness. Juror: Connie Koppelman, PhD, independent curator and speaker on subjects in women’s art. Open to all media. Entry deadline: February 13, 2009 and must be submitted as 300 ppi jpeg files on CD only.
