Hi everyone, I have just re-designed both of my websites and I would love to know what people think of them. Please be objective and give constructive reply's. If you think the site looks good, thank you, but I am looking for what you think of its over all design and its flow. do not be afraid to point out things you do not like. I am look for both artist point of view and non-artist point of view. Thanks for the time everyone! view my wildlife art website or view my art instruction website.

No, I wouldn't presume to critique any of your work. Bateman is a favorite of mine, and I'm sure you are compared to him all the time. (I noticed that from your perspective your style is the opposite of his, but to my eye you have a very similar aesthetic.)
Really the only complaint I would have is that the images aren't big enough. I always advise everyone to put larger images online. I believe the sweet spot for artworks is roughly 800 pixels high for "portrait" format works or 1000 pixels wide for "landscape" format works. Even larger is better yet, of course, but these sizes allow almost everyone to view a high-quality image in one piece, without having to scroll or zoom in. |

P.S. I just noticed that some images DO have enlargements that are about the size I mentioned. I missed them because I initially looked at a few that did not enlarge and became "programmed" not to bother trying. I know it says "Click here to enlarge" in plain English, but the first rule of web design should be: Nobody reads anything.
Maybe you could make the images themselves clickable, which is a lot more intuitive than clicking on a separate text link. P.P.S. FYI, I see "Last Light" does in fact have a clickable image, but the link opens the wrong page. |
