Looks like "H.E. Jurcht".
This auctioneer sold a painting with that signature in 2002 [lot 627]. http://www.lunds.com/Auctions/Catalogue/217/ |

I think the auctioneer has made a mistake. It seems to be a German-born fisherman/artist called Hans E Furcht (1929-2003). He lived in Victoria, British Columbia.
http://www.usedvictoria.com/ReportSe...it ion=1&hb=1 A brief obituary: http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.co...-11/1067961016 And from "Western Fisheries" 1965: "..... local fisherman, Hans Furcht of the troller "Mic-Mac II", who is also an artist, has some of his work displayed at Standard Furniture Company in downtown Victoria. Hans has a number of paintings in good variety, including seascapes....." Last edited by Hercules Brabazon : October 8th, 2011 at 10:57 AM. |
