My grandmother had a print on her wall. When she died, my uncle sold it for £5. It was a fine art print of two young women on a ladder looking over a wall to a ? orchard. As far as I remember they had pinched in waists and hair (red?) tied up in a bun. It was similar to waterhouse/de blaas style. Colour I recall were a rich emerald green and rose/plum, maybe of their skirts. I'd simply LOVE to find a print of this painting. Thankyou, Trudy

...or perhaps this:
http://www.artrenewal.org/pages/artw...p?artworkid=17 William-Adolphe Bouguereau, 1873 Les Petites Maraudeuses (The Little Thieves). Your description immediately made me think of the Bouguereau and when I checked it, I realized that the girls are not on a ladder (the older girl helps the younger over the wall-- they've been stealing apples). But, I'm submitting it for your consideration because the colors are so close to those you describe - emeralds, reds, plums. |
