There are a lot of paintings that look very much like this that are the sort of thing you would have bought in a department store in the 1960s. Mainly they are set in Paris. This could be a side street in Paris, although I'm not sure they use that kind of metal grating there. It looks to me like New York City, which would be a refreshing change.
