Margaret Ruff - Etcher and Painter
Does anyone have any information about Margaret Ruff from Philadelphia, PA? We have a watercolor we believe was a gift to my Grandparent's in Norway as a wedding present. It is a scene in Norway painted by Margaret Ruff with signature. We found out she was from Philadelphia and specialized in Etching and painting. It appears she studied in Paris under Thomas Eakins. We are trying to determine the value but can't find any other information on her or anyone who knows the value of her art. She was born in 1847 and did travel abroad. It appears from what we do know that she exhibited in a lot of the PA clubs and academy of fine arts. We sent inquiries but no response. I have attached a picture of some of the watercolor that shows her signature. Thanks!
