Can anyone please help me identify this painting? This sailing ship oil painting has a signature of "Homer" and when I looked it up on the internet it gave me Winslow Homer. So I was curious if this is a Winslow Homer painting and if anyone knew any other information about the painting? The lady that I bought the painting from said that her grandfather bought it about 50 years ago. So if anyone could help me out, it would be much appreciated, thanks!

I'm not an art expert, but if you compare this to a variety of works by Winslow Homer paintings, I'm pretty sure you'll see that it's not the same painter.

I'm not an expert either, but you need to have several experts opinions. You could be sitting on a gold mine!

It is not a Winslow Homer painting. I have one this artist's works myself. My grandfather purchased it in the 70s when he bought a beachfront condo. When I asked him if it was a Winslow, he said no. he got it from the artist himself. I can't remember his first name off of the top of my head.

Looks like it says J. Homer to me. Can't locate a J. Homer. John is correct, the quality is no where near Winslow Homer.
