Default Painting Identification - Blue Birds on Branch

I have what appears to be a print of this painting of two blue birds on a leafy branch., I am trying to identify.

I do not know who the artist is, or even how old it is. There is a small "1" written in black ink in the center of the page, and a black ink sketch of a bird beak/head at the bottom of the page (signature?).

Could anyon please help me identify this print?

Default Thank you

Thank you for the information. Could you tell me if the ink sketches on the print are the artist's signature? or some have other significance?

(Please see attached photo)

Thank you again for your help with this.

Hi Greg;

There is a name for these little symbols attached to artwork. I am unable to remember the exact name. Oldtimers setting in!! I'm sure one of the other members will chime in here with the proper term.

Some, not all, of Audobon's work has these little sketches. There could be either a doodle of a bird, a beak, foot or tail.

Here are some examples from the Harvard Library -> http://oasis.lib.harvard.edu/oasis/deliver/~hou00007

Edit: Here you go - Remarque or RE or rem

A current practice by some artist is the addition of a small personalized drawing near his penciled signature in the margin of the graphic. The simple sketch or drawing is usually rendered in pencil, but can be rendered in color. A print containing one of these hand embellishments or drawings is called a Remarque. Print marking example; RE "1/25" is the first print of an edition of 25 Remarques. By art market standards Remarques usually rank higher in value to S/N's, A/P's, and P/P's of an edition. http://www.robertsimages2.com/art_terms.htm
