Hi,
I'm looking for information about any of the "Unknown" paintings at this site: http://members.cox.net/mealbr/Hawke&...ollection.html (I tested that direct link, but in case there's a problem with it this is the full address: http://members.cox.net/mealbr/Hawke's_Cove_Art_Collection.html) They are all masterpiece reproductions used on a television show. (If you're interested in the full story you can read it on the page, otherwise feel free to just scroll through the images.) Unfortunately because of the source a few of the images (those of the unknown landscapes) are quite poor and I don't expect anyone will be able to come up with anything on them. Yet some of the images are clear and I've never been able to identify them though I've got opinions as to who might have painted a couple of them. If you can confirm those opinions or if you believe they're wrong I'd be curious to hear what you have to say. Among the paintings where I have no information, I'm particularly interested in the second image from the bottom, the one I'm calling "Unknown Portrait of a Bearded Man." I would have thought this one was Dutch Baroque, but I've been through the Artcyclopedia links for the most well known two dozen Dutch Baroque portrait / genre painters and could not find a match for this painting. So even if you don't recognize the painting, I would be interested in your opinions as to nation and era. Any information about any of the "Unknown" paintings would be welcome and appreciated. |
