One simple question for all you art lover out there. Who is the maker of this woodblock print?
But if you don’t know maybe you can tell me what is written underneath the print? Is it France? 18x14cm Last edited by mp.kunst : October 27th, 2011 at 04:46 AM. |

Hi mp;
Will give it a shot. The writing does sort of look French. Pier from ?something? En? On? Port e' Rotteram. Looks like the d is missing in Rotterdam unless there is another port with a similar name. Signature looks like H.? Maurille? Maurilli? Maurible? '31 as in 1931. Not much help I'm afraid. I rather like it. Regards, ~E |

To me it looks like Manville or perhaps Marville.

Thank you. I hoped it would be Rotterdam.
The answers are rolling in. "Vue panoramique au port à Rotterdam" is written. (Panoramic view of Rotterdam's harbour). The last couple of days I have been working with al the suggestions you gave me for the signature but no luck so far. Last edited by mp.kunst : October 28th, 2011 at 05:47 AM. |
