Default help to identify artist

Hi All,
New to this iste and to the world of art, So looking for some help and advice.
My father gave me a picture it is within its original frame and is of a Grey Horse standing under a oak tree, the horse has it's tail docked so I am assuming it was painted within the era of carriage pulling. the back ground is a landscape scene with numerous other horses within the field they are portrayed as black silouets but all have the tails docked. I think I may have uploaded a picture of it, at least i hope I have lol.

There appears to be no signature on this painting so I wondered if anyone knew who the artist may be, and the approximate age of the item I love it just want to know more about it, i have tried researching on line but can find nothing so any help or advice would be greatfully recieved.
regards
Trienka

If you can take it out of the frame without damaging it, that should tell you a lot. I matched the images up and the duplication is so close that I doubt it's hand-painted. Chances are that it's not worth a lot.

Most Likely John ha ha. However I'm not really that worried about the actual value other than if it was worth something i'd like to make sure it was added to my house insurance, I'm almost frightened to take it out of the frame incase I do damage it, So I was thinking of taking it along to someone that can do this for me.
Kind Regards
Trienka

Many thanks for your reply to my post will let you know how it goes

The original is in the Oskar Reinhart Foundation Museum, Winterthur, Switzerland. This info is beside the link I posted.

A canvas print?

Edit - Reproductions in various sizes.

Canvas prints are usually identical copies of the original work, created with inkjet printers, most you will not see any brushstrokes, however, sometimes they are embellished with brush strokes.

Reproductions are not identical and are hand painted.

Default white horse in pasture

Hi all

Having had a good look at this painting/print under a good light I have noticed that it has a small hair line crack on it, So I wondered if it could have had paint added in part ??

Also on the back of the frame is the following P/829 then under this the number 12 which has been circuled could this be Print one of 829 with mine being number 12. Could someone please clairify this to me ??

If it is number 12 of 829 prints then is there any way of finding out when the print was actually done ?

Again can I take this opportunity to thank everyone that has helped me identify this picture it has been very interesting reading about the artist.
Kind regards
Trienka

Trienka...is this written right on the frame itself? Usually a numbered print would be numbered as 12/829 and would be on the front. Not positive but this might just relate to the frame.

As for the hairline crack perhaps there is a coat of varnish. If it was hand painted you would be able to tell by the brush strokes. Is this on canvas? I have a number of canvas prints and none are embellished with brush strokes.

BTW: I see you are in my home country. Getting nippy there yet?? I think we are in for a cold one this year.

Hi Eirene,
The numbers are written on the back of the canvas so quite puzzling, Not to worry I will take it along to a local dealer and see what he makes of it and let you know.
The weather here is getting quite Nippy, lots of Drizzly rain. I have two horses and so praying it does not snow however feel that it is not that far away. Where in the world are you ??
Thankyou for replying to my posts
Kind regards
Trienka

Horses will do better in the cold..snow ...than in the rain. I dwell on the north west coast of BC in Canadaland..spend most of my time chasing clouds on a sail boat.

If on back of the canvas it may be identifying the canvas. No idea without photos.

Default Chasing Clouds

Wow what a stunning picture, looks like you have a fantastic time chasing clouds on your sail boat.

I would love to go sailing hence have added this to my Bucket List lol

Will take some pictures of the back of my picture and let you see whats been written on it.

Canada my Great Uncle immigrated to sasquatchian where I believe the named a Dam in his honour The Morrison Dam ? ?

I have always wanted to visit Canada, possible owing to my family roots, that and to see the Dam and take Pictures.

regards
Trienka
