Default Any help identifying artist appreciated.

Hi all, I recently bought this oil on canvas landscape painting and have drawn a blank trying to find anything about it. I am not an expert but just really liked it and in my opinion it seems to be painted by an accomplished artist. It is signed but its really hard to make out - N D ***** possibly. The frame has an art suppliers stamp on the back George Rowney & Co LTD, I found some info on wikipedia which tells me the company traded under this name from 1924 - 1983 so would think the painting was painted somewhere in that range.
I know it's a long shot but maybe someone has spotted some other work by the artist?
Was also wondering if the scene exists in reality? looks Italian possibly?
Anyway any thoughts appreciated.
TT

I lightened and enlarged the signature a bit. Looks like the third letter might be a capital "R"? "Rayel" is the closest I can get, but that's almost certainly wrong.

At first I thought it might be "N. D'A...", but it looks more like the artist was making an "R".

As for the location, I don't recognize it but my guess would be that it's an old-timey painting of a Mediterranean port. You might want to Google pictures of likely locations like Naples, Trieste, Marseilles, etc. Maybe you'll get lucky and find that prominent tower.
