I have recently acquired an impressionism oil painting. I can not identify either. The piece is signed but I can not quite make it out and have tried several guesses with no luck. I have attached two images, one of the piece and one of the signature. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hard to distinguish the lettering from the foliage. I would guess "Holward", but who knows.

Yes John it is very hard to distiguish the two. The photos I posted probably dont help. I have tried Holward along with many others. I have had both my Mother a former art teacher and my daughter an art major at Berkely look at the photo and both agree it was done by a talented artist which may or may not be known.

I've tried Edward and have come up with several artists of this style two very similar yet the signatures dont match. I guess an artist can change how they sign. Does the work look familiar to anybody.
