Hello. I am new to this forum and could use some help. I have a rather large original pastel but can't determine who the artist is. I've seen prints / lithographs of similar work over the years. Besides the artist's signature, located at the bottom right corner is the marks "GVA RRC". Artwork measures; approx 30" x 18" (not including the frame). Appears to have been framed by Lasser's of Thousand Oaks California back in the 60s or 70s. Hope to hear back from the community. Thank you.

Its hard to read the signature. Perhaps someone can determine the period or country base on the style?

The style looks vaguely Eastern European to me. The fact that the first name appears to have an accent over the first "a" (or perhaps "o") backs that up. The best I can do as a guess is "Javicye Valleta", but I'm certain that's wrong.

Thanks John. I guess this mystery will go unsolved.

Valletta is the capital of Malta. Maybe that will help you in your search.
