Default Help finding artist/painting

Sometime in the 90s a woman came into my fathers restaurant in South Charleston WV and asked him if she could do a painting of the inside of it. He consented and she did. I remember him getting a letter from her and sending him a slide of the painting. She gave information on when the painting would be on display in a Charleston art gallery. We went to see it and the gallery was closed. That was the last I ever remember seeing or hearing of the painting. My father has since passed away and the restaurant is closed. Over the years I have been looking for the painting. I think I found it last year on an art retail site, but not sure if it was it. Now I can't even find that. It has a long diner style bar with red topped stools, an older gentleman sitting at the bar. I remember the layout being opposite of the original, but I did have a slide and they're backwards anyway I think. If anyone can help, I would be very appreciative. I would like to find the original.

Do you mean the Charleston gallery was closed at that time or closed forever? It seems like that would be your best bet for tracking down the artist. If the gallery no longer exists, do you have its name at least?

Dear Sir

My name is Luis Candeias and I’m a self taught Portuguese painter living in Oporto city.

My paintings have a rare technique based on the use of water and coffee. Since I started to paint, I’ve achieved some exhibitions in galleries, mainly belonging to local town halls. I’ve also a website where I present my collection of paintings and also some testimonials from those who know my art. Even so, disclose my art in Portugal has been difficult, because it’s a closed market, the sensitivity of the portuguese citizens for art is very weak and the government support to boost the national art are very scarce.

For these reasons, at this stage, advertise and internationalize my art is one of my biggest goals. Hence the reason I’m writing you. Actually, through this letter I wish to invite you to visit my website at the address www.luiscandeias.net and to enjoy the full collection of my paintings. Also I’m open to any criticism that you might want to do.

Best regards.

Luis Candeias
