Just purchased two paintings. One is signed "Hunter 1966." The other is signed "Hunter 1965." I know very little about art. One is of tree trunks painted rather abstractly in white, black, navy and gray. It is beautiful, but odd, almost frightening, as if there is surely something hidden among the trees. Yet, nothing is seen. The second is of a scene with a house and trees - again in abstract fashion with heavy layers of paint. At first glance the landscape scene can be seen, but the longer one stares at the painting the more it becomes abstract with the colors of red, black, white, gray, and navy again. Any ideas anyone?
I have added photos of the paintings. After closer inspection, I've noticed that one appears to be chalk or some medium other than oil paints. It's covered in glass. I have not touched or changed the paintings in any way. They are as I purchasd them. Any ideas anyone? Thank you for your help. Opps. I'm having problems getting the photos to download. I'll get it on ASAP. Last edited by Ann : October 4th, 2008 at 01:22 PM. |
