Dear all,
I need to identify the picture I attach. It is an old calender sheet my mother had framed many years ago without thinking of writing down the artist and the title of the picture. Now it is faded and I would like to give her a new copy for Christmas. It seems to be 18th century, maybe an english painter. I grately appreciate any idea and helpful hint. Thanks a lot mamartist |

I agree it sort of has the look of that period to it. After a quick look at the main players (George Romney, Allan Ramsay, Thomas Gainsborough, Joshua Reynolds, Mary Beale), I didn't see it anywhere but I'd say it looks most like the style of Thomas Lawrence.

Thank you John. I rounded up the painters you name as "usual suspects". However, searching by names did not bring up the painting. Romney did some portraits of little girls that look very much alike (eyes, mouth, expression). But my dreamy beauty did not appear amongst them.
Let's see if anybody else can shed some light at the issue. Best regard mamartist |
