Default pre-1900 folk oils

Hi folks, I recently picked these up at an estate sale here in Massachusetts. They seem to be folk paintings. Sized about eight inches by eight inches.
The date I have is surmised by the backing and the board on which they are painted on.
They seem to be Swedish: the collection they came out of was from a well known collector/author and he was of Swedish extraction. If I can get a handle on the costume I would have a place to start from. Anyone recognize that hat?
I know there is a tepee in the background of one of them, but they are not Native American. Any educated guesses?
Thanks,
Dan
