Mine has no such markings on it. The only markings it has is where LCT signed it. There is nothing to indicate that it is a print and I believe it to be the original although without an expert to appraise it I can't be sure.

I recently purchased two prints by L. Campbell Taylor, "The Sampler" (1933) and "Lady with a Harp" (1937). Both have publishing information; "The Sampler" is documented at both the top and bottom, while "Lady with a Harp" has documentation at the bottom. Although purchased in frames, one without glass, the condition of the framing is poor. I am particularly attracted to the subject matter of these two works and am considering trying to purchase others when they become available. Where can I find information about L. Campbell Taylor? I am particularly interested in what motivated him to paint women at leisure, among other questions.

I have a large framed picture of 'The Letter' Campbell Taylor, that was originally given to my Great Aunt as a wedding gift in 1948. I would live to know more about its origins. lesley.ogram@hotmail.com

Hi
My mother was a model for LCT - she lived in Culford near to his home and as a slender girl was ideal to fit into the victorian dresses. In one picture she is sitting at a writing desk wearing a dark maroon dress and black shoes (there was only one shoe and she had to have each foot painted seperately), her hair is piled on top of her head and she is looking down at something in her hand. I can never remember the name of the picture it is something like 'About 1864' - does anyone know. Her payment was a full-size reproduction (signed) which hangs in her lounge. I grew up with it and it wasnt until i was older that I realised what a lucky girl she had been. She also modelled for some of his other pictures but only in parts - for instance one of the hands in The Patchwork Quilt is hers! |

Hello....I'm Ophelia, grand-daughter of Leonard Campbell-Taylor, and you can contact me through my website at www.opheliaredpath.co.uk. Do ask any questions you like about LCT, although my Ma is probably the best person to talk to. Perhaps I can get you in touch with her. Best wishes Ophelia |

As do I. It was inherited from my grandmother a couple of years ago. It is mounted in a thick gold frame with curved glass but it sounds exactly the same as Musical Afternoon! |
