Hello!

I have a painting here by L. Campbell Taylor, but as yet have been unable to find any information on the internet regarding it. The name is hard to read but seems to be called Your First Ball Dress, or perhaps Her First Ball Dress. It is a young woman in a white gown, with a woman in a blue gown crouching beside her. They are standing in front of a large dresser and mounted wall mirror.

If anyone could give me any information regarding this it would be very much appreciated.

Two prints of paintings by Leonard Campbell-Taylor have recently come into my possession. The first one is "The Sampler" in a gilt frame which is in good condition. The sticker on the back is by Peerart Productions and the number of the print is 1FT.

The second is "Serenity" - slight damage to the gilt frame, again Peerart Productions and the number is 4FT. On "Serenity" in the bottom left hand corner is the mark C FTR. Could you please let me know the history of "Serenity" and if there is any possible value in these pictures.

Thank You.

Both prints are signed.

[quote=L.S. FIELD - England]The LCT work you have is in fact called THE HARPIST and was painted in 1936. It was purchased by The National Arts Collection and presented to The South African National Gallery in Cape Town. If you now own it you are more than very lucky.

The chest behind the lady playing the harp (I did have the name of the model somewhere !) is a Chinese Coromandel Lacquered Chest and was the property of The Duchess of Rutland. Its stand is a Charles II silvered carved wood stand. The gold frame mirror looks as though it could be Italian/French and according to the V&A Museum in London can be dated at about 1600.The harpist is wearing a green dress with yellow cape. L.S. Field
I have just purchased an oil on board signed L.Cambell Taylor, dated 1914
entitled 'The chess players' it is 70cm's square. I have tried to acess the website from Ophelia Redpath to find out more information about the painting
but am having difficulties logging on. any information would be helpfull, you can contact me by e-mail at agna.becu@pandora.be

Default The Sampler

I think I have an original of Leonard Campbell-Taylor's The Sampler. I am wondering what it would be worth.

Hello Sally,
I saw your comment by chance today.
I wonder if you were successful in locating a print of the Rehearsal by L Campbell Taylor.
I have a smaller (but original) version of the Rehearsal that is at the Tate. Are you interested in it? I believe it was bought at Christies by my Grandfather many years ago. I haven't looked recently but I think it still has the Christies sticker on the back of the frame (also original)
Yours

I also recently purchased "The Sampler" 1933
Across the bottom of the print it reads , L Campbell Ra Lady Lover Collection
Frost & Reed Ltd of Bristol England.

I was told that my print had beeen in storage for approximately 30 years. The frame is gold and is in presentable condition. The print appeares to be slightly mildewed but in my opinion is in good condition.
I would like to know if it is of any value or be given any addtiional imfo re: this print.
Thank you

A client has brought three L. Campbell Taylor Prints into out gallery & framing shop to be remounted & framed and are asking what value they may have. Right now they are not conservation mounted and have paper mats with non conservation glass. All three (3) prints are 24 X 28; "The Sampler", "The Lady with the Harp" and "Enchantment". All three have the original name on the dust covers but not the framer. If any one has any idea of the value our email address is somethinguniqueart@hotmail.com.
Thank you.

Smile The Sampler

I have a copy of the Sampler and it is from the 1930's as it hung on my grandmother's wall long
before I was born in the 40's. It looks to be signed and it is labeled at the top and bottom.
It's multi matted in a simple antiqued gold frame.
Anyone know more of this lovely one by LCT?

Hi does anyone know the value of an old German print lithagraph titled 'The Chessplayers' by Leonard Campbell Taylor. It's in an orignal art deco frame.
