Help! I've been struggling with trying to identify a painter. Here is the painting and a close-up of the signature.

Seems to read "Ark", or perhaps "A.R.K." I did find an "A. Roland Knight" in the Getty ULAN database, but I don't believe this painting is old enough or of the same style.

Quick shot in the dark.
Maybe Alice R. Kendall? |

Possibly Alice Rebecca Kendall
I assume the birth date is incorrect at findartinfo http://www.findartinfo.com/search/li...ebecca-kendall http://www.bonhams.com/eur/auction/18086/lot/114/ http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=350512512429 |

I'll give thatcomedian the edge if the identification pans out, but Kendall's signatures look a lot squarer than the one in the original post. I'm not convinced.

Is this a game? Didn't no we could win something.
I’m more Interested were the O.P. bought his/her painting. As you can see on the label that can be found on the back of one of her painting she have lived in London. |

Neither A. Roland Knight nor Alice R. Kendall seem right because of big differences in style and signature. Also, to my eyes I thought the initials might be A.P.R. (although that could easily be wrong). Finally, on the back of the frame is written the date 1957. The label on the back is missing. All that is left is a torn corner.

Could be APK. The middle letter is kind of a strange way to write either a P or an R.
I don't think the last letter is R. If you look closely, there's a speck on the paint that makes the line appear to curl back to the left. |
