Hi,
This is probably an impossible request but i hope someone can help me. Probably about 5 or 6 years ago my wife and i saw a reproduction of a painting in a shop window while traveling. The original was (and i can only vaguely remember it) probably oil, of a couple standing close together (their backs turned to the viewer) looking out over a city at night (or dusk), portrait format, very romantic, overall dark hues. I've googled all possible combinations but to no avail. I know the description is extremly vague but that is all i have. My wife hinted at the time that she liked it and instead of just walkin in and buying it i now have to be reminded of it year after year and it is frankly driving me nuts Thanks, Riaan |

Where were you when you saw it?

I'm pretty sure however that the original was done somewhere in europe - it had that feel to it.

You might want to look at Jack Vettriano. He does work similar to what I think you're describing.

this couple doesn´t look out over a city but your description certainly evokes some paintings of Caspar David Friedrich:
